In the senior care industry, therapy pets are usually employed for those in assisted living and memory care, and for good reason. Yes, those who love animals but cannot own one benefit from the visit and joy a therapy dog can bring but there are several proven benefits as well. It has been shown that petting a dog can release endorphin’s and therefor help with pain. Therapy pets have a calming presence and can help confused or aggressive residents in memory care and provide social stimulation and add joy to every residents day. We are luck enough to have our very own therapy pet available to our residents all the time!!
