HOT SPRINGS - Miss South Dakota 2008 Alexandra Hoffman held a trunk show at Pine Hills Retirement Community on Jan. 4.

At the show, Hoffman modeled the different apparel that she will be wearing in her quest to become Miss America.

Those who were watching the TLC show, "Countdown to the Crown,” last Friday saw Hoffman win an important challenge.

The win earned Hoffman one of the coveted Gold Sashes, meaning she will be included in nationwide voting following the final broadcast of "Countdown” on Jan. 23 and prior to the live telecast of the Miss America Pageant on Saturday night.

The four Gold Sash winners who receive the most votes will automatically be placed in the top 15 at the Miss America Pageant.

Voting will commence following Friday's show at TLC.com.

Cards of support can be sent to Hoffman in Las Vegas, prior to this weekend's pageant.

Hoffman can receive mail at Miss America Contestants, Alexandra Hoffman, Miss South Dakota, Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, 3667 Las Vegas Blvd., S, Las Vegas, NV, 89109.

The final installment of TLC's "Countdown to the Crown” will air on Jan. 23, and voting for the winners of 15 Golden Sashes will take place up to the beginning of the Miss America Pageant on Jan. 24, from Las Vegas.

Hoffman was crowned Miss South Dakota in June of 2008 in Hot Springs.

To date, two contestants are entered in the 2009 pageant, with six more pageants still to take place.

Miss Hot Springs will be crowned on Sunday, March 15 at the Activities Center.
